Guided Upland Hunts
Hunting on a preserve has often been criticized and described as unexciting and according to some where the birds often refuse to fly. I may have shared that attitude until 2009 when I was exposed to preserve hunting for the first time and began guiding professionally. With the decline of wild bird populations in Iowa most area preserves have gained in popularity as a way for hunters to work their gun dogs and to continue the outdoor experience. The preserve industry takes great pride in providing a bird that closely mimics what you would encounter while wild bird hunting and most clients find it to be more challenging than expected. If you have limited time or no access to dogs the preserve hunt is a great way to get out in the field and see some quick action and superior dog work.
If you are interested in a guided hunt with Sweet Lou and Adeline let us know and we can direct you to one of the preserves nearest to you where we provide our guide services. The preserve season in Iowa opens on September 1 and closes March 31. Preserve guide rates are set by each individual preserve but typically cost about $100-$110 for a half day hunt and $150-$175 for a full day hunt.
When requested we can provide our guide services to accompany you or your party to private or leased land both in eastern Iowa or out of state destinations. We can also provide professional video or still photography to document your hunt as needed. Since cost may very depending on the length and destination of your hunt please provide the details through our contact page and we can give you an estimate.
