We are a small family business specializing in English Setters for the upland foot hunter. Located in eastern Iowa, we are preserving stories of the past for future generations with our Memories from the Field series and chronicling a life of adventure with a family gundog through our program Setter Tales Podcast. In our spare time we provide guided upland hunting services for individual clients and corporate events at Highland Hideaway Hunting in Riverside, Iowa utilizing our Sweet Point English Setters.
In 2008 a ten-week-old English Setter puppy, seemingly out of other options to find a home, was given to Wade by a close friend. As the months passed, that setter, Sweet Lou, would develop into a once in a lifetime gun dog exhibiting tremendous abilities to find and handle upland birds. As the years passed Sweet Lou became the first English Setter in Iowa to earn the American Kennel Club’s Master Hunter title. Many clients from around the country were pleased at their good fortune to have the opportunity to hunt behind him at Highland Hunting and other Midwestern destinations.
In 2014, our family launched the video series Sweet Point’s Setter Tales to promote upland hunting and to educate viewers about the gun dog life style through the upland adventures of Sweet Lou and Adeline. Using creative camera work, humor and story lines Sweet Point’s Setter Tales promoted the sport that we love while encouraging others to make their own upland memories in the field. In 2022 we retired our video series while initiating a new podcasting project, The Setters Tales Podcast. Today, when away from the field, you can find us in the studio interviewing guests while providing inspiring educational information to a growing podcast audience.
Although we lost our beloved Sweet Lou in 2022 his legacy lives on in his many accomplishments, his videos, and his offspring that all have been blessed to share his talents in the field.
