Sweet Lou – Iowa Hunting Legend
On July 28, 2008, our family’s lives changed forever when a friend pulled into my driveway with a English setter pup that seemed out of options for finding a home. At the time the last thing I wanted was another dog. The pup was placed in my arms and the decision was made. All I know is It seemed the dog chose me, not the other way around.
As the years passed, Sweet Lou, the once unwanted dog, became the bragging dog most of us only dream about. Sweet Lou was extremely intelligent and exceptional when it came to finding and working birds. Numerous clients at Highland Hunting where he and I guided clients found themselves very fortunate for having had an opportunity to share the field with him.
We were saddened at the loss of our beloved Sweet Lou in the fall of 2022. Although missed every day his legacy continues in his many achievements, videos, and offspring that are blessed to possess his hunting skills. Sweet Lou was a bird finder, master hunter, video celebrity and is the foundation for all we do at Sweet Point Setters. Old bird hunters talk about a short list of once in a life time dogs. I am confident my buddy, Sweet Lou has made the list.
